A U.S. army report shows Agent Purple was sprayed at CFB Gagetown in New
Brunswick, Canada in 1966. Agent Purple is thought to be three times
more toxic than Agent Orange. This extremely hazardous substance was
sprayed on the base in the 1950s and 1960s. Agent Purple is laced with
dioxin, a carcinogen linked to micronodular cirrhosis of the liver,
idiopathic chronic pancreatitis, emphysema, and death. Defense Minister
Bill Graham reported that there will be compensation, but it was unclear
whether it would extend to civilians.
