HANOI: The UAE Embassy in Vietnam has participated in a walk organised by the Vietnam Red Cross in support of the victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, which attracted the participation of 10,000 people.
The UAE is one of the major donors to the annual event, which was held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 9th to support three generations of Vietnamese victims - around 4.8 million people — who still suffer from severe disabilities following their exposure to the toxic chemical during the war.
Funds raised go towards the provision of a number of assistance projects including homes, medicine and education for the victims.
As part of the UAE embassy's contribution, gifts were distributed to affected children during the event, and the embassy was presented with a certificate of thanks and appreciation from event organisers.
Khalid Ibrahim Abdulaziz Shuhail, UAE Ambassador to Vietnam, said that these charitable contributions are part of the UAE's international humanitarian relief programmes implemented in many countries around the world.
